Pacafiesta
&
The Atlantics
International Fibre Fiesta
In conjunction with
ALPACA CANADA
Exhibition Park, 26th, 27th & 28th
September
It
is a delight to welcome you to the third annual PacaFiesta and Atlantic
International Fibre Fiesta at Exhibition Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia, on
the 26th, 27th & 28th of September.
We
are celebrating our unique industry with superb alpacas for sale, a natural-fibre
marketplace, spinners and weavers demonstrating their crafts, a fashion
show, competitions, and gourmet food and wine in a very upbeat, fiesta
atmosphere.
This year we are pleased and proud to announce Alpaca Canada is holding
its annual conference in conjunction with the event.
“Pacafiesta
is such a fun event and the people are downright friendly! It has such
a great variety of animals, clothing, and things to try, such as the knitting
machine, spinning wheel and rug hooking. You can even watch people spinning
straight from angora rabbits!”
Bring
the whole family to discover how these ancient beauties from the Andean
highlands of Peru ended up in the Maritimes. Alpacas are part of the camel
family, but don’t worry: They rarely spit!
Can you imagine finishing all of your Christmas shopping in September?
Buy your handmade, natural-fibre gifts at the Fibre Fiesta marketplace.
Watch out for the miniature goats under foot as you stroll through the
aisles of goods, including everything from funky hand-woven scarves and
mittens to elegant evening wear. Meet the alpacas and the artisans that
made your special gifts a reality!
“I
am blown away by all the fibre vendors. The Maritimes seem to have a large
pool of incredibly talented weavers, and spinners.”
Naturally, the alpacas, angora rabbits and miniature goats are all eager
to see you at PacaFiesta!
"It was the coldest darkest night of the winter
when a wizard came to me in a dream. He was wearing a long flowing Alpaca
coat, with a colourful Mohair hat and a fine Merino scarf bunched under
his chin. "Imagine," he said in his resonant tone, "a vast
room filled with exotic animals, the finest garments, the warmest clothing
and all the hundreds of people who twist and turn the animal hair into
garments fit for a King, coveted by Queens. Imagine the grandeur of such
a market place, where everything you could possibly wish for, is there
infront of you." The dream stayed with me. I felt it must be real.
I searched high and low on my long trips around the world. I never would
have imagined that the dream would be taking place right here. In Nova
Scotia. Pacafiesta and The Atlantics International Fibre Fiesta. Where
dreams come true, Naturally."
